Power Performance at EIJ in New Orleans

Terry Anzur and "Power Performance" at the EIJ bookmart in New Orleans
The Power Performance book signing in New Orleans attracted a diverse group of students, educators and working professionals. I especially enjoyed meeting Elena Strapkova, a Humphrey Fellow from Slovakia who is studying at ASU to improve travel journalism in her country.

Many thanks to Jim Schuette of the Marion Street press for making this event a success.
EIJ stands for Excellence in Journalism, and it was the first joint meeting of the RTDNA (primarily for broadcast journalists) and SPJ (mostly print journalists). Because our book deals with all media platforms for both journalism and public relations it was a perfect fit. New technology dominated the discussion, with panels on Google and Facebook attracting standing-room overflow crowds.

June 2010 RIAS fellows
The convention also provided the backdrop for a reunion of RIAS fellows. This program is the best kept secret in broadcasting because it allows American journalists to spend two weeks in Germany, all expenses paid, to deepen their understanding of NATO, the EU and all things German. I participated in the program in 2001 and 2010 and I would recommend it to any TV or radio journalist who wants to enhance his or her understanding of the world.
